New Delhi: Larsen & Toubro's Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has won multiple significant orders in India and abroad, reinforcing its dominant position in the clean energy sector. The business has secured contracts for two floating solar plants in India, with a combined capacity of more than 150 MWac, along with a 120 MWac ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project.

PT&D has also obtained orders for establishing 765 kV transmission lines and a gas-insulated substation in Rajasthan and Karnataka. These projects are critical for integrating solar energy zones and transmitting renewable energy to various load centers across the country.

Internationally, PT&D has secured an order in Kuwait to build a 400 kV gas-insulated substation, which will power residential clusters in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad City project. In Oman, the business will construct a 400 kV overhead transmission line and two 400 kV grid stations as part of efforts to integrate multiple standalone electricity networks into a national grid.

Additionally, in the United Arab Emirates, PT&D has received orders to construct two 132 kV substations with associated works.

“Reliable, clean energy is the preferred form for electricity in propelling the growth of both traditional and emerging industries,” said T Madhava Das, Whole-Time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Utilities), Larsen & Toubro. “It is heartening to see that the region makes substantial investments in both renewables and grid infrastructure in a timely manner. Also, solar power and related hybrid technologies witness rapid innovations that are not limited to cell technologies but also encompass project formulation, application areas, design and engineering, and construction methods. We are proud to be at the forefront of implementing such technologically advanced projects of critical nature.”
