Tata Power Renewable signs PPA for 460 MW FDRE project with SJVN

This project is set to integrate solar, wind, and battery storage technologies to deliver continuous power, especially during peak demand hours.

New Delhi: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited for a 460 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. This project is set to integrate solar, wind, and battery storage technologies to deliver continuous power, especially during peak demand hours.

The initiative is aimed at bolstering the renewable energy supply to Distribution Companies (Discoms), helping them meet their Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligations (ESO). This agreement marks TPREL's first venture into the FDRE tender, emphasizing its role in expanding sustainable energy solutions.

"This partnership with SJVN Limited will witness the deployment of best-in-class sustainable energy solutions from TPREL. It will go a long way in meeting the green energy objectives of SJVN Limited," said Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director, TPREL. He emphasized that the collaboration will ensure a reliable power supply and support India's renewable energy goals.

Pawan Varma, Executive Director (REIA & RTS) at SJVN Limited, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "We are excited to collaborate with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited in this endeavour to promote renewable energy in India," he said. Varma highlighted the goal of leveraging combined expertise to foster innovation and aid the country's shift towards clean energy.

The upcoming plant is projected to produce approximately 3,000 MUs of power annually, with the potential to offset around 2.2 billion kgs of CO2 emissions each year.

Following this new addition, TPREL's total renewables capacity has reached 9,421 MW, of which 7,978 MW is under PPA capacity. This includes 4,906 MW of projects under various stages of implementation, while the operational capacity stands at 4,515 MW, comprising 3,485 MW solar and 1,030 MW wind.

TPREL also boasts a significant solar EPC portfolio, which includes more than 12.8 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 2 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over 100,000 solar water pumps, committed to providing integrated green energy solutions across the nation.
